Hyderabad in Shock: Panic-Stricken Fire Reduces Gulzar Houz, Hyderabad to Ashes
A dreaded fire accident shook Hyderabad’s Old City on a peaceful Friday evening when it broke out in Gulzar Houz, a thickly populated and old pocket of the Old City. The fire had started at a multi-storeyed commercial complex, spreading to a couple of floors and sending residents and businessmen into a tizzy.
The fire, which seemed so distant, soon transformed the region into a realm of chaos. Dense columns of smoke filled the sky as fire trucks drove towards them. Luckily, thanks to quick action by the fire department, more than 35 individuals trapped inside the building were saved alive and safe, averting a bigger catastrophe.

Heroes in Uniform: Firefighters’ Courage Wins Praise
When the building was surrounded by the flames of fire, it was the Telangana Fire Services’ bravery that rescued hundreds of lives. Using their hydraulic ladder and oxygen cylinders, the firefighters showed the highest level of courage in saving individuals trapped on higher floors. It was their prompt action that saved the day from an unimaginable catastrophe.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, having been informed of the incident, was one of the earliest to compliment the firemen for their professionalism and bravery. He openly supported their actions and considered their service a beacon of civic service at times of need.
“It is a reflection of our fire personnel that they have shown so much commitment. They risked their lives to save other individuals,” said CM Revanth Reddy.
Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Directs High-Level Investigation into Hyderabad Fire Accident
Telangana CM Revanth Reddy directed a high-level investigation into the Gulzar Houz fire accident in a swift reaction to the accident. He emphasized ensuring the reason behind the fire and if there was any failure in following the fire safety guidelines.
Early reports indicate that the building might not have had proper fire safety appliances, and the cause of the fire is suspected to be an electrical short circuit. CM Revanth Reddy has stated that if negligence is established, it will not be tolerated.
Emphasis on Fire Safety in Business Complexes
The incident has again put in the limelight the issue of fire safety measures in commercial complexes in Hyderabad. CM ordered officials to hold fire safety inspections at all the old commercial complexes in the city, such as Sultan Bazaar, Abids, and the Charminar area, so that mishaps of any kind may not occur in the future.
Unauthorized constructions and violating safety standards are major threats and need to be eliminated through stringent enforcement, he said.
A Government’s Responsibility and City Prayers
Hyderabad’s Gulzar Houz fire accident should be an eye-opener to the vulnerability of city safety. While there were lives lost, trauma and financial loss caused to small traders and tenants in buildings will take ages to be dealt with.
As Hyderabad grieves for the loss that could have been much more devastating, citizens eagerly await action, accountability, and reform from their government. The probe ordered by CM Revanth Reddy is a move in the right direction, but sustained efforts must be made so that this kind of tragedy doesn’t recur.
