“People Desire Peace, Not War,” Mehbooba Mufti Declares in Tangdhar
In a trip to Tangdhar, the border village, PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti was concerned about the civilians hit by the shelling. It is not so in the case of the intact houses that are rendered useless from the inside, and the ₹1.2 lakh given to them in compensation is less.
“People don’t want war here. They want peace. They want their homes destroyed, but they have to ask for bunkers rather than schools or hospitals,” she said.
Mufti asked the government to consider the area a war-affected area and deliver a special relief package, like individual bunkers and rehabilitation assistance.
